Ugly Batt/Trashcan Batt...

Ugly batt, trashcan batt. I've heard of them before. They are batts made out of the scraps, leftovers from carding sessions. Some people sell said batts, so I've been saving scraps in a little bag for a while. Today for the hell of it, I carded them up. I only ran it through twice to avoid making "mud".

I actually like this! Lots of grey with color peeking through! I only had enough for one batt, but it'll make a nice single to ply with a darker grey I think. I wished I'd put a bit more red, but hey...it's just an experiment! Click onto the bottom pic to see a real close up! Kewl, huh?

Ooh, sparkles! You can't get more one-of-a-kind than using this method, and yours is amazingingly pretty.

Thanks Heidi! That would be the Firestar that's so sparkley! Waste not, want not... It so much fun playing with fiber!

I love this batt, well done! I am about to buy a drum carder but I only want to do chunky batts full of nobbly bits, glitter etc. Can you recommend your carder for this type of batt?
Regards.

Hi Josephine,
Thanks! Yes, I can definitely reccommend the Kitten for the batts your wanting to do, but with the 70/90 cloth. Actually I want to get an additional swift with the 90 cloth for my Kitten for this reason.

I have the 70/90 cloth on my Kitty. Mary's right. Now Mary, if I was the finer cloth, do I have to get a whole nother drum carder, or can I get the cloth and somehow change it when I do finer fiber? I've been wondering that. Hmmm.

Hi ChelleC,
You would have to purchase the swift (drum with the cloth) in the different sized cloth, which is a lot cheaper than buying a whole nother drumcarder.

I love this! I looks totally planned, not like scraps at all. I'd love to see what you end up doing with it.

Thanks Carly!
I haven't made up my mind how I want to finish it, but I'll post it when I do. What do you think? Should I 2 ply it with another color?
